Alan Spaeth is the Colorguard Caption Head. He is originally from St. Charles, Michigan. He was a member of the St. Charles High School Winterguard, the first high school in Michigan to become a WGI World Finalist Colorguard.

He continued performing and working with colorguards and marching bands while attending Western Michigan University. After college while working in the Trust Department of National Band of Detroit he began working with Lakeland High School Colorguard in White Lake, Michigan. In 1993, their third year of existence, Lakeland attended WGI World Championships and was crowned the Scholastic A World Champions. He continued working with Lakeland until 1997.

In their 7 years of competition under the direction of Mr. Spaeth they were the Michigan Competing Band Association Best Colorguard recipient at every State Finals Competition. They were the Michigan Colorguard Circuit State Champions every year from 1990-1997. they were also a WGI finalist every year they attended. In 1997 they were the WGI Open Class Silver Medalist.

 

In 1997 Mr. Spaeth began working with the Plymouth Canton Educational Park Marching Band. He continued working with PCEP until 2002. As the show designer and colorguard director Plymouth was the MCBA State Champions every year, winning all caption awards. They were a Bands of America Grand National Finalist every year finishing in the top five, five of the six years. In 1999 they were the Bands of America Grand National Champions.

Mr. Spaeth has been a show designer and consultant to numerous bands and colorguards in the United States, Japan, Thailand, England and Holland.

Since moving to Flossmoor in 2002 Mr. Spaeth has been working with the Penn High School Band in Mishawaka, Indiana.
