On-Going Fundraising Efforts:

Market Day
We hold monthly Market Day sales to benefit our general fund.  Parents/students help with unloading and pick-up

OneCause
Lincoln-Way East Music Boosters is registered as a cause on the www.onecause.com shopping portal.  Online purchases result in donations to the music general fund.
See more information about OneCause below.

Gift Cards
We will make volume purchases of gift cards at local stores and sell them at face value. There is no out-of-pocket expense to you and discounts provide extra money to our general fund.

Summer Fundraisers:

First Midwest Amphitheatre Concessions
Parents have the opportunity to work in the concession stand at FMBA during concerts to earn money for their student’s IBA.  There are several concerts throughout the summer and you can choose to work as many as you would like.  You must take a class to be certified to sell alcohol before volunteering.  You make a minimum of $75 for working a shift.

Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society holds an annual walk/relay event on the Lincoln-Way East Campus every June to support cancer research.  They allow the Music Boosters to sell concessions at this all-night event.  The proceeds go to our general fund.  Several parent and student volunteers are needed to sell and prepare food for the participants.

Car Wash
This is a required event for all Marching Band members, but all music students may participate to raise money for their IBA accounts.  Students solicit pledges for each car washed.  The car wash itself, which is held in the LW East parking lot, is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
See Extra Car Wash Forms on our Forms Page

SIAM
Selling SIAM discount books is a required fundraiser for all music students throughout District 210.  Two days are set aside in late summer (August) so that parent volunteers can drive groups of students to neighborhoods throughout the Lincoln-Way area to sell SIAM cards door-to-door.  This is the biggest money maker for all of the LW Music Departments.
Visit siamcard.org for more information.

Fall Fundraisers:

Frankfort Fall Fest
The LW East Boosters have a booth in the food court at the popular Frankfort Fall Fest that occurs annually on Labor Day weekend.  We sell brats, sauerkraut, and drinks.  Many parent volunteers are needed to work shifts throughout the weekend and to help with set-up and tear-down of the booth.  This does not have to be a major time commitment; even if you can just work one 4 hour shift it will be greatly appreciated! Profits go to the general music fund.

Car Raffle
Every year the LW East and North Boosters collaborate to hold a car raffle.  The cost of 5 raffle tickets ($10.00 each) is included in your Band fees.  You will receive your tickets in the fall and you have the choice of selling them and keeping the money or taking a chance on winning in the raffle yourself.  You can sell more tickets if you wish.  Tickets are also sold at all football games by booster volunteers.  If too few tickets are sold, we do not give away the car, but prize money is awarded to the winner based on the money raised.

Home Field Show
LW Central and LW East take turns hosting an Invitational Marching Band Competition each year.  For 2010, the event will take place at Central.  Both schools provide numerous volunteers to help with the many aspects of hosting this show.  You can sign up to help with concessions, parking, chaperoning visiting bands, assisting in the judges booth, etc.  This event generates much income for the music programs at both schools.

Butter Braid/Cookie Dough
The Cookie Dough/Butter Braid Fundraiser helps students raise IBA funds.  The cookie dough comes frozen in tubs and the butter braids are delicious coffee cakes in a variety of flavors.  You will receive order forms in the fall and the items are delivered in time for the holidays.

Wreath Sale
During October, students have the opportunity to sell holiday wreaths and garlands.  These are excellent quality fresh evergreens and they last well past New Years.  Orders are delivered prior to Thanksgiving and parent volunteers are needed to unload the truck and sort the items for pick-up.  Profits from this fundraiser also go into student IBAs.

Winter Fundraisers:

Midnight Bowl
This event is a combination social gathering/fundraiser.  Music students, their families, and members of the staff get together at the Thunder Bowl in Mokena for a night of fun, food, and friendship.  There are several lanes set aside for us for bowling and a party room with a food buffet and various raffles to be held as well.  This event takes place after the marching season ends, in late January or early February.  Proceeds go to the general music fund.

Spring Fundraisers:

Flower Sale
If you buy flats of flowers to plant every spring, this is the fundraiser for you!  In early spring the students will receive an order form to sell flowers (not cut flowers, but flowers for landscaping).  Pictures of the varieties available will be posted on our website.  These are excellent quality flowers and vegetables and the prices are comparable to local stores.  They arrive in early May.  A huge truckload is delivered to LW East and lots of volunteers are needed to help unload the flats and hanging baskets.  This is another IBA fundraiser.

Winter Guard Show
In March, LW East hosts a Winter Guard Show.  Color Guard members from our Marching Band, along with other students, work on performances without the band during the winter season and this show is a competition for many members of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit.  This show attracts a large number of schools, students, and people; and also generates a large amount of money for our music program.  Parent volunteers are needed for all aspects of this event, from concessions, raffle ticket sales, parking and traffic control, etc.  Our Winter Guard program has been judged as among the best in the world!

Spaghetti Dinner and Bunny Breakfast
These are two fundraisers that occur in March here in our cafeteria at East.  Students are asked to sell tickets to these events.  During the spaghetti dinner, some of our excellent student musicians provide entertainment and of course the Easter Bunny shows up at the Bunny Breakfast.  Once again, many parent volunteers are needed to help with set up, serving food, and clean up for both of these events.

Music Marathon
This is a new event for us, but it was very successful last year.  Students were locked in over night at the school (with plenty of chaperones and the band directors) and they took turns playing music in groups all night.  The performances were shown live on our website.  The students collected pledges based on the continuous hours spent playing music.  This was an IBA fundraiser and an enjoyable experience for the kids.  Food and recreational activities were provided for the students during the times they were not playing music.

Jazz Showcase
This is a great event designed to showcase our excellent jazz program and provide a social gathering for the LW East Music Family.  It is a night of dinner, music, and dancing.  Some great raffle prizes are included as well.  The event takes place at a local restaurant or banquet facility in March or April.  Any profits go to the general music fund.
