The DCM competition, the first to be held in the Southwest Chicago
Suburbs, will feature Drum Corps from all over the Midwest region.
Scheduled to participate are, the Colts from Dubuque, IA; The Cavaliers
from Rosemont, IL; the Capital Regiment from Columbus, OH; Blue Stars
from LaCrosse, WI; Marion Glory Cadets from Marion, OH; the Colt Cadets
from Dubuque, IA; and the Kingsmen from Joliet, IL. Drum Corps Midwest is an organization dedicated to the performance of
specialized marching corps featuring brass, battery (drums) and color
guard. Participants - high school through college-age (16 to 21 years
old) - audition for placement in the individual corps (an extremely
competitive process). Corps members attend camps one weekend a month
from Thanksgiving until Memorial Day weekend.
Starting in early June most members move to the corps home town
where they spend up to 12 hours a day in practice and spend nights in
competition. The Lincoln-Way East High School Music
Boosters are organized to support the efforts of all students studying
and performing in all areas within the Music Department (Marching Band,
Symphonic Band, Chorus). The Music Boosters work to provide funding for
instruments, provide support and to travel with the different music
organizations to competitions and performances, and provide volunteer
services to the Music Department.
