She asked that if there is any information you want on the phone tree to let her know by the Tuesday before the general meeting. She is also looking for a choral parent to be the liaison to choir parents. You can also order a name tag for $5.00. Ways and Means – There are currently 2 fundraisers going on, the Car Raffle and Spirit Wear. More details about each below. FUNDRAISERS Market Day – Jean Smith reports that they average about 60 orders per month and they would like to increase their orders. The forms are due August 23rd and pick up is September 1 from 4-6 p.m. in the cafeteria. You can also order online. September helpers are the Acappella/Chorale Choir. SIAM – Dave Drenner reports that Phase I has wrapped up with 300 businesses signed up on the card. He is now organizing Phase II, selling the cards. The music students will be selling the cards door to door on September 19 and 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. He needs parents to sign up to drive. Our town captains are Denise Ozburn for Tinley Park/Frankfort Square, Mike D’Amico for Mokena, and Steve Therriault for Frankfort. This is done in conjunction with Lincoln Way Central and there will be a pizza party at the end of the second day. Fall Fest – Dee Block reports that plans are going well. The booth will in the same spot. She is looking for volunteers to work the Brat Booth at Fall Fest and is especially in need of workers for the afternoon and closing shifts on Sunday and Monday. She would like to have primarily sophomore and junior parents working the booth during the parade. She also need cooks. Car Raffle – Nancy Stachura states everyone should have received their raffle tickets in the mail. Please sell as many as you can and return unsold tickets in the blue mailbox as soon as possible. We need to sell 2200 tickets to be able to give away the car. You can also buy tickets at Phillips Chevrolet. The car is at Phillips Chevrolet now except it will be at Lincoln Way East during home football games. Nancy needs volunteers to hand out flyers for the raffle when she drives the car in the Frankfort parade. Wreath Sale – This is an IBA fundraiser. It will start in late September and will end in early/mid October with the goal of having the money available before the last Fiesta Bowl payment. Field Show – Kent David reports the Field show will be held on Saturday, October 23 at Lincoln Way Central. He needs approximately 7 people for subcommittees and 50 people to work that day. OLD BUSINESS Cancer Walk – This fundraiser for the American Cancer Society was held in June. The Music boosters from Lincoln Way East and Central ran the concession stand. The profit was donated back to the American Cancer Society. Car Wash – Joanne Bergman thanked everyone who helped. They had 207 cars at the Mokena site and 358 cars at the Frankfort site. DCI Show – It was successful, they sold out the stands. Michelle Schmidt thanked all her chairpersons and suggests a subcommittee. There was a $6200 profit. Newsletter – There was no newsletter this month, but we expect to have one soon. NEW BUSINESS Tables for Recruitment at Registration – Volunteers still needed to sell Music Booster memberships at school registration. We already have 50% participation from sign ups at Code of Conduct. The benefits of the sign up are 1. the $10 dues goes towards the scholarship fund and 2. gives us an opportunity to gather volunteers for the upcoming events. Band Camp – The Band Camp meeting is to be held at 8 p.m. tonight following the booster meeting. 15 people are needed Saturday to help with luggage check/medical form/loading trucks. Field Show Shirts – This year’s show is titled “Stained Glass.” The winning design was picked by a panel of impartial judges and will be announced later tonight. The field show shirt will be blue. Orders will be taken from tonight until Friday. T-shirts will be $10.00, sweatshirts will be $20.00, and hoodies will be $25.00, with larger sizes slightly more. Mentoring Program – This a new program. There are 70 new incoming Freshman and parents that we would like to match up with a mentor. In order to be a mentoring family, you must have been in the marching band program for one year. This will be an ongoing commitment. The mentors will meet with their freshman families face to face, at band programs, and encourage new family involvement. We are looking for a minimum of 30 mentors. There will be a social in August for all mentoring participants. Uniforms – Mrs. McKernin reports that all Griffins should have their uniforms now. Anyone who had a raincoat on order, they are now in and you can pick them up. She thanked all the volunteers that helped with uniform distribution. Tailgate at ISU – The tailgate at ISU will be on Saturday, October 16th. This is done in conjunction with Lincoln Way Central. Last year we fed over 800 people. This year we are looking into catering this event because of the magnitude of people. STAFF COMMENTS Staff comments were presented at the band camp meeting that followed the booster meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Carey Quealy, Secretary
