| Vickie Burch called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. REPORTS Secretary’s Report – The minutes from the December meeting were posted on the website. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes as posted. Treasurer’s Report – Jackie Cooper presented the financial report for Income and Expenses for the month and year to date. Income was from a cookie dough payment, Market Day, the Quizno’s shop and share, uniform fees and Fiesta Bowl payments. There are more Fiesta Bowl payments that have not yet been posted. Expenses include Madrigal expenses, clinician for Colorguard, the last Fiesta Bowl payment, and winter drumline fees for upcoming season. The General Fund fee is showing a negative balance which is not unusual in a travel year. This is because all the payments towards Fiesta Bowl have not been posted and the split of money from joint fundraisers with Lincoln Way Central is anticipated but not yet posted. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Communications – Val McGraw reported that the few glitches in the phone tree have been worked out. She asks that the captains to instruct phone tree workers to make note if they talk to the children instead of the parent when making the phone calls. Val needs any information for the phone tree by the first Tuesday of the month. Val is still taking orders for anyone who would like a nametag. There is also a plea to find the Fan Club’s missing Griffin poster. He is currently at large and some type of reward will be given for his return. Also, Kyle McGraw is working on the end of the year video and would appreciate any footage/pictures especially of behind the scenes and non-performance things. Contact Kyle, Val or Marty McGraw if you have anything Kyle can use. Ways and Means – Mark Kane and Nancy Stachura reported on the following fundraisers. STAFF COMMENTS Mr. Smith informed everyone that while they were hoping to have a dinner banquet for the Marching Griffins in February, when they reviewed the schedule and the calendar, it was not possible to make this work. So the marching band recognition will be with the end of the year awards as it has been in the past. Mr. Smith reported that the Fiesta Bowl trip was a complete success and how impressed he was with all the members of the Marching Griffins. He commented that the Griffins gave 2 great performances with minimal time to rehearse. He also thanked all of the parents who gave their help and support to make the trip go so well. He would like to especially recognize the contributions of Mike Albert, Tom Blakeley, Dee Block, Chuck Conklin, Theresa Conklin, Karen DePorto, Dory Jarzabowski, Karen Lezon, Jerry Montet, Marcia Montet, Michelle Schmidt, Larry Block, Jim Berry, Don Stachura, and Dave Drenner. Mr. Smith asks parents to check with their students about the upcoming events and practice schedules. The Band Concert I will showcase the Symphony and Wind Symphony and the Band Concert II will feature the Concert Band and the Wind Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble will be involved in the March concert. If you need to contact Mr. Smith, the best way is through via email.
