| Vickie Burch called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. REPORTS Secretary’s Report – The minutes from the January meeting were posted on the website. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the Secretary’s Report. Treasurer’s Report – Jackie Cooper presented the financial report for Income and Expenses for the month and year to date. Income was from the Cupid Raffle ($4580 in ticket purchased, $1100 profit after winners paid), Market Day, late Band Camp fees, and Fiesta Bowl payments. . Expenses included a Clinician’s fee (Dr. Holquist for the choral students and piano accompanist), Cupid Raffle, Uniforms (cleaning Marching Band raincoats), 5 months for website fees, and payment to Mike Teare for Winter Drumline. The Scholarship Fund is healthy. Treasurer Elect – Mike Albert reported that he has current balances available for IBA accounts. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Communications – Val McGraw had no new issues to report. Ways and Means – Mark Kane and Nancy Stachura reported on the following fundraisers. FUNDRAISERS Market Day – Market Day is ongoing. SIAM – Dave Drenner has sign up sheets available and needs volunteers to help with the first phase of SIAM for next year. He is looking for people to solicit area businesses to be on next year’s card with the goal of having 100% of businesses from last year. He would like to have 20-25 people attend meeting in June/July and be assigned businesses to solicit in one area. American Cancer Society Walk – The Relay for Life will be held the 2nd weekend in June. This is a nationwide event. Vickie Burch and Nancy Stachura will co-chair this event. Lisa Drenner has already agreed to be in charge of food concessions. They are looking for 12-20 people to work short shifts Friday night to Saturday morning. They are also looking for food donations for the concession stand. Flower Sale – This is an IBA fundraiser. Marcia reported that she received 70 forms back and has about $10,000 in sales. The pick up date will be May 6th, and she is looking for volunteers to work in shifts. OLD BUSINESS Constitution Review –A 4 person committee met last month and presented to the Executive Board their recommended changes. Vickie presented a handout with all recommended changes. The changes will be voted on at the next General Meeting on April 12th. Fiscal Reengineering – Steve Therriault reported that at the beginning of 2004 he started investigating other sources of revenue with less work and more money. He presented a formal proposal to the staff and administration. He and a committee plan to work on this in the off season. The Committee is comprised of some of the current Executive Board members. They have divided their job into 6 categories—Corporate Sponsors, Grant writing, Pay to Play, Other Booster Organizations, What are we doing today and is it worth it, and an Alumni organization. The committee is still in the fact finding/research stage. Band Camp – Band Camp will be July 31 to August 6. Steve reports that he has 18 parents signed up to chaperone, but would like to have at least 20. He would like to see a chaperone whose child is in Color Guard. NEW BUSINESS Route 66 Raceway – Nancy Stachura is looking into this possibility. We would have to commit to working 2 weekends in the summer. The races are in June/July. Mentoring Program – Beth Kane is looking for experienced families to be available to mentor incoming freshman’s parents. There are sign up sheets available. The goal is to not have any freshman parents sitting alone at shows. Executive Board/Nominations/Present Candidates/Elections April 12 – The Nominating committee recommended the following candidates: President-Elect – Tom Blakley, Treasurer-Elect – Mark Kaczmarski, Ways & Means – Diane Fagan, Communications – Lisa Drenner, Secretary – Terry Shue. Nominations for candidates will be closed at the end of tonight’s meeting. STAFF COMMENTS Mr. Smith reminded parents the Dick Reil came to the meeting tonight and was available to take frame orders. Mr. Smith announced that the Music Boosters will be awarding 2 scholarships for $1000 to graduating seniors who are pursuing a music major in college. The IHSA Choral/Instrumental contest recently concluded and Lincoln Way East had 67 Division I ratings, 17 Division II ratings and a few Division III ratings. This is the best showing we have ever had. 22 judges participated in the contest and each chose the best performance in their room—12 picked performers from Lincoln Way East. All concerts next year will be scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., this year times varied between 7:00 and 7:30 and this caused some confusion. Band and Choir auditions for next year will be on March 22. The spring musical, Camelot, will be on April 21-23. It includes 75 students. The ticket order form is online. The Summer/Fall marching band calendar is available for next year by the Music Department Office. The June Code of Conduct will be held for incoming freshman parents before the Band Camp meeting for all parents. The Glen Miller Orchestra will be performing at Lincoln Way East Auditorium on May 29th. There will be dancing allowed the second half of the concert. Nominations for next year’s Board were closed. Elections will be held on April 12th at the next General Meeting. A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn the meeting.
