Our very own Lincoln-Way East Chorale was honored in January 2006. They were selected to perform for the Illinois Music Educators Association's all-state conference in Peoria. The group was selected by music educators to serve as examples to others of what these age groups can, and should accomplish.
The singers were not the only ones from Lincoln-Way East to be honored by the Illinois Music Educators Association. Principal, Michael Gardner received the outstanding administrator award on Friday, January 27, 2006, at the association's all-state conference in Peoria. Dr. Gardner was nominated by choral director Alysia Lambert with letters of support from students.
"I am honored to be nominated by my students and teachers," Gardner stated in a statement. "It is the students who deserve the recognition for their wonderful talent and hard work. It is the music teachers who are to be honored for their dedication, love and commitment to our stiudents. I just get to enjoy the results of their hard work in all the wonderful music."
This is the second statewide award Gardner has received this year. He also was recognized in October by the State Association of Student Activities as their Principal of the Year for his recognition and support of all student activities.
Congratulations Dr. Gardner
