GENERAL MEETING - TUESDAY
OCTOBER 9, 2007 Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:05PM by Cindy Heath.

Secretary Report:  Motion to approve was made by Tom Blakley.  Seconded by Mary Ellen Pifko.

Treasurer Report:  September report was reviewed.  The Field Show is the last big fundraiser for the year.  Motion to approve was made by Steve Garbaciak.  Seconded by Tom Blakley.

Communications:  Email letters are out.  Ideas are being taken for a possible message board online for next year.

Ways & Means:  SIAM was successful this year due to the increase in price.  $99,195 was raised, $18,000 more than last year.  Booklet sales were down in the entire district.

Various businesses in the district will be selling them until May ’08.  Packets for Phase III will be out to the businesses by Oct. 20th.

Pampered Chef-$2,000.00 went to IBA accounts.  $6,000.00 in merchandise was sold.

Carson Books-all money and unsold books are due Oct.20th.

Car Raffle-money is due Oct. 12th.  The winner will be drawn at the football game Oct. 19th.  Only 7% of ticket money has been turned in so far.

All music students are responsible to participate in General Fundraisers.

 

Wreath Sales-orders have been distributed. This is an IBA fundraiser.  Volunteers are needed.

Butter braid/Cookie Dough orders are due Oct. 17th.

Kohl’s Cards-5% goes to IBA accounts.  They are available in each denomination.  Contact Joyce Eriks for information.

Field Show-Steve Garbaciak reported that a volunteer meeting with Central is immediately following tonight’s meeting.  A motion was made by Jean Stanker to allow the Middle School students to attend for free is they are wearing their band shirts.  Seconded by Ann Lindley.  Motion carried.  Posters are needed for the various schools.

Booster membership cards will not be honored for admission to the Field Show.

John Fiocca reported that a $100.00 donation was made to the Field Show by Alsip Nursery. 

Tuxes and gowns-all students should have their appropriate attire for the concerts.  Shirts, pants, and bowties are being distributed this week.

ISU Tailgate Party-Kris Lindley reported that tickets are available tonight.  186 have been sold so far.  It will be catered this year by Famous Dave’s.  Parents will eat first this year at 6:15PM immediately following the band’s performance.  Then the band will be fed. Generators and lights will be brought down. Parents are asked to bring desserts in individual portions.  They can be dropped off anytime during the day at the site.  Maps are available today.

Madrigal Ticket sales will be Nov. 10th in the morning this year.  No phone sales will be available.  See the music website for more information.

Spirtitwear-Mary Ellen Pifko reported that all Field Show shirt orders should be in.  Rain ponchos are available for $22.00.

Shop’n’Share-Barb Malm reported that the dates for November are the 12th, 13th, and 14th.  5% of total purchase goes to the general fund.

Mr. Calhoon reported that 150 students went to the IMEA auditions at So. Suburban College this year.  There will be a Jazz performance on Oct. 11th.  October 16th is the first band concert of the year.   October 18th is the choir and orchestra concert.  Tri-M is sponsoring a food drive for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.  Please donate any non perishable foods.  The Choir trip to Northwestern University has been approved.  They will also be traveling to the South and Disney this year. 

There will be a Jazz Coffeehouse on October 26th at 7:30PM in Rm 236.

Motion to adjourn was made by Dave Drenner.  Seconded by Ruta Krawczyk.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 8:00PM.
