Cindy Heath called the meeting to order at 7:07PM. Board Vacancies: A motion was introduced to elect Mike Albert as the Treasurer Elect for East. Motion to approve was made by Jean Stanker. Seconded by Teri Schuh. With no opposition, motion carried. A motion was introduced to elect John Fiocca as the Ways & Means Director Elect for North. Motion to approve was made by Tom McKay. Seconded by Gary Watland. With no opposition, motion carried. Secretary’s Report: Motion to approve the minutes was made by Mary Ellen Pifko. Seconded by Mari Tanouye. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: August financial statements were reviewed. Travel payments for Ypsilanti and Indianapolis are due. Motion to approve was made by Joyce Eriks, seconded by Wendy Miller. Motion carried. Communication: Newsletters are being sent out via email. Nametags are available for $6 each. Contact Teri Schuh to purchase one. Ways & Means: Fall Fest Brat booth went well. Tom Schoenhofen was the chairman and did a great job. The final money details aren’t in yet. The Dunk Tank was used for the first time. Shop’n’Share certificates were handed out. 108 car raffle tickets were also sold. The Carson’s Coupons money is due by Oct. 20th. All money goes to IBA’S. The Pampered Chef Cookbook fundraiser will be out this week. There is a variety of spiral bound cookbooks available for $6.00-$6.50. Michelle Deering is chairman. This is an IBA fundraiser also. The other IBA fundraiser is the Butterbraid/Cookie Dough sale. It will be from Sept. 24-Oct. 17th. We are using a different cookie dough distributor this year. Delivery will be Nov. 7th. The Christmas Wreath Sale will be chaired by Gail Gray this year. Volunteers are needed for the night to unload the truck and for the distribution days. This is an IBA fundraiser also. IBA fundraisers can be utilized by all Music students, such as Madrigals and Chorus members to help pay for costume rentals and trips. Car Raffle tickets have been mailed out. The money and stubs have to be returned by Oct. 12th. 99 tickets were sold at the last football game. SIAM is Sept. 16th and 23rd. It is a mandatory fundraiser. Our profits this year will be split with North. Drivers are still needed. Drivers are to be at the field house by 11:00AM, students by 11:15AM. The cost has been increased to $15.00 this year. Kim Quigley and Mary Ellen Pifko are in charge of Frankfort Square/Tinley Park. Cindy Heath is in charge of Frankfort. Mike Albert is in charge of Mokena. The Field Show is October 13th, starting at 4:00PM at East. Steve Garbaciak is the chairman. 21 bands have been invited to perform. The admission fee is being raised this year to $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and seniors. Volunteers are needed. John Fiocca is doing the programs this year. Happy ad forms were given out to the band members this week. They have to be returned to the blue mailbox by Oct. 1st to be in the book. Business advertising forms were mailed this week also. Air Grams will be available at the show this year. Mr. Calhoon reported that IMEA auditions will be Monday, October 8th and South Suburban College. The $10.00 audition fee is due Friday, Sept. 14th. The audition list is outside RM 109. Help is needed to complete the props for the Marching Band show. Dr. Ron McCurdy will be coming to East as a guest instructor for the Jazz Ensembles in January. He is the Chairman of the Jazz Studies Program and Professor of Music at USC. We are asking for donations of travel and hotel vouchers for a 2 night stay to help defray the costs. Please contact Mr. Calhoon for any questions. Concert and Symphonic bands will be dressed the same this year for performances. White tuxedo shirts, blue bow ties, black pants for boys, and black skirts for girls. Forms will be sent out this week. Fitting for tuxedos and gowns will be the last week of September. Jazz Band is at Frankfort Market on Sept. 16th. September 30th is the Festival Strings, also at Frankfort Market. Motion to adjourn was made by Mary Ellen Pifko. Seconded by Jean Stanker.
